Originating from the depths of Tampa, Florida in 1987, Deicide was conjured by Steve Asheim and Glen Benton. Rising to infamy with their second album, Legion, they have since become a monolithic figure in the Death Metal universe. Their catalog of destruction includes twelve studio albums, a live album, two compilations, and two live DVDs. Notably, their first two albums, Deicide and Legion, stand as monumental achievements in Death Metal sales. Deicide, notorious for their relentless assault on the senses and unapologetic brutality, is on the verge of unleashing their thirteenth album – a testament to their undying legacy in crafting the most punishing soundscapes in Death Metal.
An uncompromising sibling extreme metal trio from Brazil, Krisiun’s savage lyrics, punishing riffs, and unmitigated velocity helped make them one of the more punitive metal ensembles to emerge in the 1990s. Heavily influenced by bands like Slayer, Sodom, and Morbid Angel, the band employ a vicious, straight-ahead death metal style that was crystallized into pure fury on career-making outings like Apocalyptic Revelation (1998), Conquerors of Armageddon (2000), and The Great Execution (2011) that brought many imitators out of the woodwork. 2018’s Scourge of the Enthroned charted in Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland. Following two long tours and the global pandemic, Krisiun returned in July 2022 with Mortem Solis.
INFERI is an American technical melodic death metal band forged from the depths of Nashville, Tennessee. Upon their resurrection in 2011 like a phoenix from the ash, the 2014 release of “The Path of Apotheosis” spread like wildfire gaining worldwide attention. That legendary flame was soon fueled by the thunderous firestorm of their 2018 release entitled “Revenant”. Featuring legends such as Trevor Strnad from The Black Dahlia Murder and the shred god James Malone from Arsis, “Revenant” landed at #26 Hard Rock albums and #28 on the Billboard’s Heatseekers charts solidifying them as a household name in the underground technical death metal scene. This led them to embark on several tours across the world with bands such Rivers of Nihil, Archspire, Shadow of Intent, Signs of the Swarm, Brand of Sacrifice, Obscura, and more.
In an era that is designed to beat down and weaken the individual, ‘Black Flame Eternal’ is an album that represents strength, empowerment, and total opposition. With mounting pressure to engage in modern societal tribalism, CLOAK invokes a spiritual rebellion that exists beyond good and evil with album number three. While CLOAK might rage against societal conventions, the Atlanta quartet embraces the rebellious and time-tested traditions of heavy metal. Whether it be the conjuring of the chaotic spirit of Swedish black metal purveyors Watain and Dissection, summoning the deep, dark, and sensual groove of Danzig, or evoking the raw speed and raucous energy of Motörhead, the influence of metal’s founding fathers is deep within CLOAK’s DNA. The band’s charm, however, does not merely lie within its romanticism of the past, but rather in the way each of these genres has shaped CLOAK’s own personal identity. And with ‘Black Flame Eternal,’ they continue to strengthen their own unique established sound.
